Comment Status

Comment statuses help teams to track which feedback is still pending and which issues have already been fixed.

Instead of losing track of feedback inside long comment threads, statuses make it easier for teams and clients to understand the current progress of every issue.

Available Statuses

1. Active

Active means the feedback is still open and requires attention or implementation.

This is the default status for newly added comments.

Example :

A client reports: “Button alignment breaks on mobile.”

The comment remains Active until the issue gets fixed and marked resolved

2. Resolved

Resolved means the issue has been fixed or completed.

Once a comment is marked as Resolved:

  • It gets moved to the Resolved section in the comment sidebar

  • All replies, screenshots, attachments, and discussions remain tied to the same comment thread

Nothing gets lost, making it easy to revisit previous discussions anytime.

Example :

After fixing the mobile alignment issue, the developer marks the comment as Resolved.

Visual Difference Between Status Pins

BugSmash also visually separates comment statuses using different pin colors:

  • Active comments → Purple pins

  • Resolved comments → Grey pins

While viewing the Active section:

  • Only active (Purple) pins will remain visible on the project

Once you switch to the Resolved section:

  • Both active (Purple) and resolved (Grey) pins will become visible together

  • This helps teams to easily track pending and completed feedback to understand the overall progress of the project

Why It’s Useful

Using comment statuses helps teams:

  • Track project progress clearly

  • Avoid duplicate feedback

  • Separate pending vs completed issues
