Clear access levels prevent accidents like clients editing internal notes or contributors accessing sensitive workspace projects. BugSmash controls permissions through different invite paths, keeping collaboration open but access tightly scoped.
Roles and their explanation:
Admin:
Admin has almost all the same privileges as owner including billing.
Members:
For your core internal team. Members have full workspace access — they can create, upload, manage projects, and invite others across every folder. Best for designers, developers, PMs, and anyone working on the account day-to-day.
Collaborators:
For freelancers, contractors, and outside partners. Collaborators can create and upload like a Member, but only inside projects or folders you invite them to — they don't see your whole workspace.
Guest Reviewers:
For clients, stakeholders, and anyone giving feedback. Guest Reviewers comment on the specific projects or folders you share via a link — no login or signup needed (unless you want them to invite to a privately shared project, then they’d need to login). They can't create, upload, or edit anything.
Feature / Action – Access by user type
Example
The agency invites internal designers as Members for full workspace collaboration, freelance dev team as Collaborators so they can upload builds without seeing other projects, and clients as Guest Reviewers through the project Share menu to collect feedback without risking accidental changes.
Tips
- Invite long-term teammates as Members from Workspace → Members.
- Use Collaborators for contributors who need upload access but limited visibility.
- Add clients as Guests from inside each project so their access stays scoped to only what they should review.
- Periodically review invited users to maintain strong security.
