Why it's useful

Connect BugSmash with Make to automate your feedback workflows and connect BugSmash with thousands of applications.

While BugSmash already offers native integrations with tools like Jira, ClickUp, Asana, and Trello, Make allows you to build custom automation scenarios that trigger actions whenever comments are added, updated, replied to, or when comment statuses change.

Common use cases include:

  • Sending Slack or Microsoft Teams notifications

  • Creating Jira, ClickUp, or Trello tasks automatically

  • Logging feedback activity in Google Sheets

  • Sending email notifications to stakeholders

  • Connecting BugSmash with internal tools and custom workflows

Prerequisites

Before getting started, make sure you have:

  • An active BugSmash account

  • A Make account

  • Access to your BugSmash Make API Key

Step 1: Get Your Make API Key

  1. Log in to BugSmash.

  2. Open Workspace Settings.

  3. Navigate to Integrations.

  4. Locate Make and click Connect.

  5. Copy the generated Make API Key.

Note: Keep your API Key secure and avoid sharing it publicly.

Step 2: Create a Scenario in Make

  1. Log in to Make.

  2. Click Create a New Scenario.

  3. Click the + button to add a module.

  4. Search for BugSmash.

  5. Select the BugSmash app.

Step 3: Configure the Connection

  1. Click Add Connection.

  2. Enter a connection name.

  3. Paste your Make API Key.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Make will automatically verify the connection.

Step 4: Select a Trigger

Choose the BugSmash event that should trigger your automation.

Available trigger events include:

  • Watch New Comments

  • Watch Comment Updates

  • Watch Comment Replies

  • Watch Status Changes

You can also optionally select a specific project if you only want the automation to run for that project.

Step 5: Test the Connection

  1. Click Run Once in Make.

  2. Perform the selected action in BugSmash (create a comment, reply, update, or change a status).

  3. Verify that the event appears successfully in Make.

Once testing is complete, activate your scenario.

Step 6: Add Actions

After configuring your trigger, choose what should happen when the event occurs.

Popular actions include:

  • Create Jira Issues

  • Create ClickUp Tasks

  • Create Trello Cards

  • Send Slack Notifications

  • Send Microsoft Teams Messages

  • Add Rows to Google Sheets

  • Reconnect the integration if authentication fails.

  • Re-run the scenario after making configuration changes.
